John Wheeler’s Theory
of the Dynamic Universe and Its Interpretation
Perhaps some may know, the idea of quantum foam, put forward by John Archibald Wheeler in 1955, is a thesis with very serious foundations and capable of being interpreted in different ways. Wheeler derived this thesis while attempting to unify general relativity and quantum mechanics, and later, finding it explanatory in many areas, detailed it in his book Geometrodynamics, published in 1962.
Starting with the observations of scientists on this subject, it has been realized that upon reaching the Planck scale (1.6 \times 10^{-35} meters), one encounters particles that constantly disappear and reappear, circulating at every moment.
The quantum uncertainty principle comes into play, giving rise to massive energy packets; in other words, at sufficiently small distances, there is a massive exchange of energy between particles, and essentially, tiny wormhole-like structures emerge at the Planck scale at every moment, causing quantum particles to disappear in one place and reappear in another.
John Archibald Wheeler, interpreting this situation as quantum fluctuations at the Planck scale, conceptualized these quantum particles as particle-antiparticle pairs, identifying the particle that disappears on the space-time plane and reappears elsewhere as being connected to its corresponding antiparticle.
As for the interpretation of this thesis, if we accept that it is entirely correct—which is, in fact, the logical conclusion—I would like to consider this situation from the perspective of beliefs. For instance, there are verses in the Holy Quran, the sacred text of the Islamic faith, regarding this subject, but the meaning of these verses is only becoming apparent today.
For example, the conception of a universe "in each moment engaged in some new work" mentioned in Surah Ar-Rahman, verse 29, perfectly aligns with the quantum foam thesis I explained above. In other words, what is referred to as "moment" in this verse is actually the Planck time scale, which is 10^{-43} seconds.
When thought of in this context, we can fully understand that the Quran is a book revealed by the One Allah who created everything.
