The Essence of the Difference Between the Brain and the Heart in Humans and Other Living Beings

Perhaps some of us, despite believing in Allah, may not understand how all events in a universe with so many possibilities could be recorded in full detail in the book named Lauḥ al-Maḥfūẓ (The Preserved Tablet) even before it was created. In fact, this text may serve as an answer to many of your questions.

Now, coming to the main subject, have you ever wondered why the physical, visible structure of the brain present in us living beings is far more functional in humans, even though it shares the same fundamental structure with other living creatures? Have you ever thought about the reason for this? Is it merely the number of convolutions or something else that causes this? If that were the case, wouldn't other creatures have adapted to use their own brains in the most efficient way as well?

Is adaptation strictly about adjusting to physical environmental conditions? What I mean to say is, since every living being utilizes its brain structure to its maximum efficiency, every living creature is intelligent in equal proportion within its own capacity.

Consider this: Would Allah, who granted living beings a brain as a control unit in this manner, not have given non-living entities a similar structure? It doesn't necessarily have to be in the form of a physical brain; perhaps it is a tiny particle, or an invisible structure. Were it not so, miracles containing supernatural phenomena and anomalies occurring within the flawless order of non-living matter could never happen. Or let us put it this way: Isn't the exact time of miracles written in detail in the book called Lauḥ al-Maḥfūẓ?

Since these events we call miracles take place upon non-living entities, how are they planned? Can we not conclude that non-living matter also possesses a control unit, obeying His commands at the designated times ordained during creation and manifesting supernatural occurrences?

Now, let us turn to the differences between humans and other living beings. As you can gather from this text, the brain structure serves the same function as a control unit in both living and non-living entities. However, there must be a distinction between humans and other living creatures—and that distinction is that human beings additionally possess a soul. Our soul is the element that makes humans superior to the seven realms of creation. It is our soul that grants us the capacity of volition (will power).

Other living beings and all non-living matter simply do whatever the situation dictates. Therefore, if human beings eat when hungry and drink when thirsty without pondering anything beyond that, or if they act solely on impulse without adhering to any moral principles, they become no different from any other creature. By betraying their noble creation—created superior to the seven realms—they become no more valuable than firewood in Hell. Thus, every human being must abide by principles and moral values.
